About This Item
Bound in publisher's original green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations. Fine, in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light edge wear, light toning to the spone and a stain to the bottom corner of the rear panel. The American folklorist and religious scholar W.Y Evans-Wentz first translated the Tibetan Buddhist text the Bardo Thodol, into English in in 1920s. Its title was invented by Wentz due to its similarities with the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, and like that work this one has become a widely-read and studied classic of world spirituality.
