About This Item

Signed by the author "with the good wishes of W. Y. Evans-Wentz to ...., San Diego, California, 24 March, 1956".

Evans-Wentz has also hand-written a passage from the Precepts of the Gurus: "It is great joy to realize that the path to freedom which all the Buddhas have trodden is ever-existent, ever unchanged, and ever open to those who are ready to enter upon it".

The Precepts of the Gurus refers to the supreme path of Buddhist discipleship and is the topic of the first chapter of Evan-Wentz's Tibetan Yoga and Secret Doctrines, published in 1958 (two-years after the date of this inscription).

A very good copy indeed, bright boards with gilt decorations, spine cocked, front pastedown little foxed, and front and rear end papers unevenly tanned. Dust wrapper in good condition, price clipped, internal tape repairs to spine tips, slight staining, a few edge tears and some chipping.
