About This Item

Boston: Lothrop Publishing Company. Very Good. 1899. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Chromolithographs & woodcuts; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 48 pages; 1899 Lothrop Publishing , Boston. Larger royal octavo HC in original quarter red cloth backed spine and chromolithograph illustrated paper covered boards. 1st edition, thus. The sanitized and reworked version of the escapades of the late Middle Ages jester, Till Eulenspiegel, here made into a children's book and illustrated with 4 full page chromolithograph color plates and numerous b&w in-text woodcuts. A well preserved example with bright clean pictorial boards and sound cloth backed spine. Mild fading to cloth spine; light shelf rubbing and some mild nicks and flaking to the paper over the boards at edges and tips. Publisher's linen lined hinges are sound and endpages bright and clean. Expected mild toning to page stock. A few trivial instances of fingering to the pages, but generally quite clean and neat. Uncommon thus. VG .
