About This Item
Bogotá: Banco de la República, 2022. b/w and color plates, facs., plans, exposed stitched binding (Japanese bookbinding), dos-à-dos binding, color pict. slipcase. The exhibition "Tipo, Lito, calavera: stories of graphic design in Colombia in the 20th century", curated by the researcher and designer Juan Pablo Fajardo, constitutes a dialogue between the arts, design and graphics around typography and the ways in which it adapts and reconfigures in our context, always associated with various types of print and the imagery of each era. Through the nodes that are part of the sample, a reflection is presented on the place of the letters and their forms in documents that allow us to approach key moments in the formation of the nation. Thus we will find very valuable reflections on the role of the banknote in moments of conflict; the development of the regional press and its graphic expression; the industrial development of the first half of the 20th century, seen through the labels of the products that were made in the country, and the contribution of artists in editorial design, among other topics.
