Philadelphia: Carey and Hart, 1848. viii,231pp. Modern half calf and marbled boards, spine gilt. Titlepage slightly chipped. Light tanning. About very good. A scarce account of a fishing trip taken by artist, writer, and sportsman Charles Lanman, who describes his travels through the Hudson Valley in New York to Montreal, thence up the St. Lawrence to Quebec City, and ending on the Saguenay River, a tributary that drains Lac Saint-Jean. Lanman was a member of the Hudson River School, where he spent ten years, and travelled widely in the eastern United States and Canada, on which he based several travel narratives. SABIN 38926.
