Thick 12mo.  155 x 100 mm., [6 1/4 x 4 inches].  civ, 723 pp.  Illustrated with 8 large folding maps in the text and 95 city maps and a map of country bound at the end of the volume.  Original blue cloth in very good condition, dust jacket, with chips a the corners and head and tail of spine, back wrapper scrapped.  This copy with the signature of "Kenneth Love/Florence/April 1959" on the front free endpaper. With faults a good to very good copy.

First edition of the Hachette guide to Italy.  Includes historical and practical information for the contemporary traveler, including information on rail travel, banking, the economic condition of Italy post-War, and a geographical guide to the country.   Each city and town is described, highlighting the cultural points of interest as well as information on hotels, restaurants and transportation. Very well illustrated with maps of over one hundred towns and cities in Italy.
