About This Item

Los Angeles: The Angelus Press, 1933. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 100pp. Small quarto [25 cm] 1/4 black cloth with yellow paper over boards. The underlying boards are just barely peeking through at the corners of the covers. There is a previous owner's name on the front free endpaper. In a worn dust jacket with small losses from the edges (the largest loss is to the top edge of the rear panel measuring 4 1/2 inches wide by 1 inch deep at its deepest point). The jacket is torn along the folds of the inside flaps, however the flaps are still attached. The edges are lightly dampstained. Illustrated with fourteen full-page photographs.

"In plain language, Professor Laing makes it clear that the problem is really complicated, that it involves social engineering rather than mechanical engineering, that society is a cultural complex as well as a productive machine, and that the application of the principles of Technocracy to American life is more difficult than building an industrial plant or a water works system. Yet withal he makes clear and available the essential truths of Technocracy." - Charles A. Beard.
