From the dust jacket: The Wiener Library, whose Chairman and benefactor is Mr. Leonard G. Montefiore, O.B.E., was founded Amsterdam in 1934 by Dr. Alfred Wiener, then a refugee from Germany, as the Jewish Central Information Office. Its purpose was to collect and disseminate documentary evidence exposing the nature of the Nazi regime. The Library was transferred to London in 1939, and until the defeat of Hitler its remarkable collections were in constant use in fashioning the weapons of political warfare. Today it has grown into a centre of research into the history of Nazi Germany and is concerned with all the attendant problems of the totalitarian challenge to democracy: human rights, refugees, minorities, migration and every form of racial and religious discrimination, notably antisemitism as well as the political, social and economic affairs of Jewry.
