"The TRAGEDIES OF SOPHOCLES in English Prose" - The Oxford Translation. 1860; Harper & Brothers; New York. Frontispiece engraved portrait of Sophocles with tissue guard. Included are Oedipus Rex (or, Oedipus Tyrannus), Oedipus Coloneus, Electra, Antigone, Trachiniae, Ajax, and Philoctetes.
Condition:
Light foxing along the top and right-hand edges of the front cover; the back cover has a few areas where the cloth has rubbed/faded. The cloth and the gilt lettering on the spine has partially faded. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The majority of the text pages are clean with only an occasional foxing spot here and there, though heavier foxing to the first few and last few pages. A few random pages are still attached along the outer edge. Overall the book is in Very Good- condition.
