Compartments ruled, lettered and fully decorated in gilt, including the Harrow crossed arrows symbol in two compartments. Brown cloth on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. RARE. From the library of the alpine nurseryman Will Ingwersen, with his bookplate on the front endpaper. [The first book in English to deal with alpine gardening. Twenty-five years later it attracted the sarcasm of William Robinson. This is the true first edition of 1845.
