Large format (11" x 9"), 3" thick, at some time in the rather distant past was professionally rebacked retaining the original medium brown leather face of spine with original black title band and front and back leather covers, now over heavy dark leather, expertly done so rebacking is barely noticeable, original endpapers have been retained without addition of any new pages; printed by R. and J. E. Taylor, Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, 754 paginated pages + sections "List of Donations to the Library" and "Plates and Maps" including "Explanation of the Plates and Wood-Cuts" and 61 plates which by my count include 25 foldouts and 22 in color (hand colored?) . CONDITION: Overall very nice. Cover worn through on tips of outer corners, very old bookplate inside front cover, old pencil notes on FFEP (could be erased), moderate foxing on front endpaper and page edges, text is like new with just a few age spots, some plates have slight to moderate foxing; no rips, no pages or parts of pages missing.
