Crown octavo, illustrations, contemporary gift plate (dated December 1879) on front paste-down, brown china clay endpapers, edges uncut, bound with 32pp. publisher's advertisements (October 1879) in original light blue cloth (decorated with green waterlilies on the front board) with (bright) gilt on spine, slightly flecked but an uncommonly crisp copy.
First edition.
Issued in late 1879 but post-dated on the title-page – then a standard practice among British publishers. See Findlay, Freshwater Fishing Australia, no. 173 (July/Aug 2022), pp. 82-83, for a discussion of variant bindings.
