Chapman and Hall. 1892. 8vo. 22cm, first English edition, viii,586p., frontis portrait, title-page vignette, extensively illustrated from engravings including many full page, 2 folding coloured maps, index, original green pictorial cloth, gilt spine titles, bookplates removed from endpapers leaving some glue residue, occasional library blind-stamps else a near fine copy (TR). ~ The third volume of German explorer's trilogy of travels through Africa translated into English from the original German by A.H. Keane. Wilhelm Junker (1840-1892) traveled through Africa from 1875 to 1886 studying the peoples and collecting specimens of plants and animals. The third volume of "Travels" outlines his investigation of the Nile/ Congo watersheds and travels through Uganda and Tabora to Zanzibar. He also established the identity of the Welle and Ubangi people. Junker died shortly after his return from his last African expedition from disease caught on his travels.
