About This Item

San Antonio: Naylor, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good. 1st printing. Cloth. 188pp. Illustrated with drawings by R. L. McCollister. Printed review slip "To the Literary Editor" from Naylor laid in. Also laid in is a folded t.l.s. (typed letter signed) from Gann on his Lakewood, Colorado letterhead to Robert Perkin of the Rocky Mountain News. Perkin has also signed his name at the bottom of the ffep. The letter expresses appreciation for "your kindly treatment" in Perkin's review. "The review was complete and covered all vital elements contained in the book. I would like to meet you, and what do you say to having lunch with Chester Letts and me in the near future..." I have not identified Letts but someone who will really like this copy may. Near fine in dj with 1" x 1" chip at top front cover corner at fore edge. Otherwise moderately worn and with a 2" mark on the back. "In this history, (Gann) has caught the surge and sweep, the drama and romance, the hardship and the heartbreak, of the handling of cattle." (dj). A desirable association copy.
