'This beautiful book describes and interprets the spectacular works of art presented in the superb current exhibition lent to five American museums by the People's Republic of China. More than 125 pages of color plates illustrate each of the ancient ceremonial bronzes and jades, together with eight amazing, life-size terracotta warriors and horses that were buried with the ruler who unified China in 221 B. C. The text not only describes some of the most important recent archaeological discoveries in China, but also provides a general introduction to the extraordinary accomplishments of the 1,500-year-long Chinese Bronze Age, and interesting, detailed information about each object in the exhibition.
