Philadelphia: Kay and Brother, 1875. xli, [1], 794 pp. Octavo (9-1/4" x 6"). Contemporary sheep, blind rules to boards, raised bands and lettering piece to spine, lower lettering piece lacking. Moderate rubbing to boards, heavier rubbing to extremities, boards partially detached but secure, light gatoring to spine, small chip to head of spine, corners bumped and somewhat worn, early owner name (T.B. King) and owner stamp (of "Berry, Lowe & King, Land Agents, Stephenville, Tex.") to front free endpaper, another stamp to rear free endpaper. Moderate toning to interior, minor stains and smudges to a few leaves. $250. * Second edition, substantially reworked and expanded. "To style a work of this kind a text-book would be rather misleading as it is in reality more in the nature of a digest of cases...The chapters on Conspiracy, Defenses to Homicide, Evidence, Instructions to Jury and Trials, are particularly interesting.": F.P.M., 16 Yale Law Journal 603-604 cited in Marke, A Catalogue of the Law Collection at New York University (1953) 462.
