About This Item
As New Condition One Previous Owner Smoke Free Home No-one can help being moved by the incredible atmosphere Trevor Chamberlain manages to portray in his paintings. But maybe even more impressive (from a painter's perspective) is the masterly way he achieves this with what seems like a minimum of detail and what some would consider ordinary and mundane subject matter. Who else could find sprout pickers in Bedfordshire or early-birds at a car-boot sale in Hertford appealing – but with the right light, the clever use of composition and subtle use of colour, this artist does, making every one of his paintings such a joy to look at and a lesson in simplicity and freshness. All the paintings and drawings are being published for the first time, many accompanied by anecdotal notes. Barry Miles was born in Southampton and studied at Southampton College of Art where he gained his diploma in 1979. He worked in graphics and publishing for a number of years in conjunction with an equally successful career as a landscape artist, holding five one-person exhibitions throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1999 he had his first book published on Edward Wesson, followed by Barry Peckham's New Forest in 2002 and in 2004 The Watercolours of Edward Wesson co-authored by Steve Hall. Steve Hall was born in Bath and educated at Bath Technical School, The City of Bath College and Huddersfield College of Education. He spent much of his working life teaching building and architecture in Essex and Kent and was eventually an assistant principal of Gwent Tertiary College. In 1994 Steve took early retirement and escaped into a world of watercolour painting where he was finally able to fulfil his childhood ambitions. He now runs watercolour courses at Bradford on Avon, Abergavenny and along the north Norfolk coast, and exhibits regularly at local venues and galleries.
