About This Item

1865 Confederate 1ed Civil War Trials for Treason Indianapolis Lincoln Assassination Pitman

Beginning in 1864 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a series of treason trials were commissioned at the end of Civil War. The trials themselves were to convict Confederate men who were said to be conspiring to expand the Confederacy. In 1865, an official record was published exposing the events of the trials noting the arguments and defenses, particularly those of Harrison Dodd, William Bowels, and a few others. This first edition was collected and edited by Benn Pitman.
