The substantial chronicle of a man's travels by land across the Southern Turkish coast, Lebanon, Israel, and Jordan. Beginning his journey in 1987, Glass set out to explore the Arab portion of the former Ottoman Empire, drawing on the works of earlier travelers. His trip came to an end due to the war in the area, and an attempted kidnapping.
