Venice: In Aedibvs Alsi et Andreae Asvlani Soceri, 1522. Hardcover. Very good. 12mo. 204 leaves. Contemporary vellum, ink name on spine. Anchor and dolphin device on title page and last leaf. Contemporary ownership name at base of title page. Engraved bookplate of Alfred Petit on the front pastedown. A very good copy in a contemporary binding with only light wear. Housed in a leather backed clamshell case.
Justin's work covers the Hellenistic age and gives valuable information on such figures as Philip of Macedon and Lysimachus of Thrace. The second work is a collection of lives of Greek leaders of the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. by Cornelius Nepos, here called Aemilius Probus. Dibdin says that this edition was rare even in his day.
