About This Item
Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1937. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo., 248pp. Beautiful Stated Second Printing. Square, tight and clean throughout. A touch of toning to edges but minor. Some mild off-setting to end-papers and paste-downs. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.50), has some rubbing to folds and minor wedge-wear. A short closed tear on the top front panel. Still fresh and bright. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front end-paper, "To Stanley P, Lovell, Christopher Morley". Though no positive connection, Lovell is quite possibly Dr. Stanley Platt Lovell, long-time chemist and President of Lovell Chemical Company. But more importantly, he was Director of Research and Development for the OSS under Wild Bill Donovan during WWII. A very pretty collectable copy.
