[Edinburgh?]: [s.n.], 1680. [8], 839pp, [1]. Later panelled calf, tooled in gilt and blind, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Rubbed, some surface loss, upper board detached. Scattered spotting, occasional chipping/loss to margins, small hole to text of leaf Pppp (without loss of sense). The first British edition (an edition suspected to have been printed on the Continent appeared in 1678) of Church of Scotland minister David Calderwood's (c. 1575-1650) monumental history of the Kirk; his third and final attempt at such a work (his previous two efforts survive only in manuscript.) ESTC R10586, Wing C280.. First British edition. Folio.
