Inscription on fr. endpaper: 'Harriet Walters/ Presented/ for good attendance in the First Class of the Girls M.N.C. 1875 With her Teachers earnest prayer & hope that it will prove beneficial to her spiritual culture as well as a soruce of pleasant recreation. JB(?)', Covers rubbed with cloth wrinkling in places and some sl. soiling. Coloured printed cartouche on fr. is good, with only one v. sm. chip. Not the best copy in the world but this early edition, presumably 1st, does appear to be scarce.
