About This Item

New York: Richardson & Steirman, 1987. First edition. First printing [stated]. Hardcover. Very good in very good dust jacket. Signed by author. Inscribed to Judge Robert Bork. TLS signed from author to Judge Bork laid in.. xii, 395 p. Turning 200 blends dynamic portraits of the great leaders of America after the Revolution with a vivid account of their bettle to rescue the new experiment from its slide toward disunion. In this account of the rise of the American Republic, the author expands the story of the Constitution, not only to illuminate the whole stage on which that great event took place, but to show how America's charter remains as brilliant now as when it was created two centuries before. The author was the first journalist to intervice Chief Justice Warren Burger after his appointment to head the official Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution.
