The text is illustrated by Josef and Lieutenant-Colonel Frank Wilson. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. The life of a young married couple, Joe and Ethel Turp, as expounded by Joe in a series of letters to the author. Softening and sunning back edges with rubbing of the book corners and lower book edges. Flecking to the lower edge with sunning to the top edge of the book. Browning and slight foxing to the text block edges and age toning of the pages. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners with loss of the first and last quarter inch of the backstrip. Creasing to the dustwrapper edges with rubbing of the panels. Some holes to either side of the backstrip and this area also shows the attention of insects. This is the first UK edition.
