First British edition, preceded by the American edition done in 1941. Brown boards in dust jacket. Foxing to the front and rear endpapers. Some rubbing to the edges of the boards. 3 cm piece out of dust jacket spine and 8 x 7 cm piece out of rear jacket. Rubbing to the creases of the jacket. With Great Depression era photos by artists such as Walker Evans, Dorthea Lange, Arthur Rothstein.
