Edinburgh/London: William Blackwood/ T. Cadell, 1833. 1st Edition . Half-Leather. Very Good. Hardback. A very good copy in a half-leather binding with marbled boards. Spine lettered and decorated in gilt and with five raised bands. No ownership inscription. Foxing largely confined to end-papers. Pp.xii,435. Surtees was a soldier and quartermaster of the 95th (Rifles) from 1802 to 1826. Much of his Memoir involves his experiences during the Napoleonic Wars and in particular the Peninsular War. A very decent copy. Photographs available on request.
