About This Item
Portland, Maine: Thomas B Mosher, 1908. Lionel Johnson (1867-1902) published only three volumes during his short lifetime, but he was highly regarded in the overheated literary world of the time. As an aside, history records that he made the introduction of Lord Alfred Douglas, his cousin, to Oscar Wilde. This is a Near Fine copy of an edition of his work LIMITED to 100 copies. An uncommon to scarce title. Mosher drew the first 21 poems from an 1904 issue by Dun Emer Press; Yeats had selected them from volumes printed in 1895 and 1897. For this edition, Mosher added seven others of his own choosing. The fragile vellum binding, with titling in red and black, is the best Quercus has seen. Some extrremely slight age-toning along the very top edge, else a Fine copy. Clean text; vi, 55 pages; printed on Japan vellum. Present is the even-more fragile tissue dustjacket, completely unworn. Now in an archival plastic protector. Truly a lovely book. . Limited. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
