Fredericton N.B.: Jack M. Veness / Jack L. Fairweather, 2001. Book. As New. Soft cover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. pictorial paper, 209 pages, [11] leaves of plates : illustrations, portraits, Veness was the first Canadian fighting man to enter Germany ,when he was sent with his platoon to relieve two companies of an American airborne division straddling the borderr in the Njimegan area. Veness and Fairweather enlisted at near the same time and met in England. Both were sent as lieutenants to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. On D Day both were taken prisoner, escaped to fight with the French Underground. the rest makes for thrilling reading. Both were fine, modest men, who are now gone.

Somewhat biased review here since Jack Lee Fairweather was my father but it's a pretty good story that has a good ending unlike many of the unfortunate endings from that time. A good slice of what all of these brave men of that era went through.
