About This Item
Nuremberg, 1517. Paperback. Very Good+. Woodcut at beginning of chapter 12 in Emperor Maximilian's epic "Theurdank" or The media of his day. Also includes the opening image from chapter 43. Printed in attractive Old German script. The illustrations in the "Theurdank" were produced by a team of artists: Leonard Beck, student of Dürer: Hans Schaüfelein, and Hans Burgkmair - a reputable Augsburg artist who was also involved in Maximilian's "Genealogie." The drawings they produced were then cut by Jost Dienecker of Antwerp. The finished romance tale was a masterpiece of the German Renaissance. (Size: 360 x 255mm).
