About This Item
Tobacco Road" and "God's Little Acre" (both 1932) are but two of this prolific Southern novelist's best-known works. TMS of Caldwell's short story "Midsummer Passion," 5pp, 8½" X 11", n.p., n.y. Near fine. Subtle mailing folds on last page only. This strange and steamy tale first appeared in Caldwell's short story collection "Jackpot" in 1940; this collection was retitled "Midsummer Passion and Other Stories" and published as a mass market paperback by Avon Books in 1948. Whether this 5-page typescript of the title story came from the typewriter of Caldwell or was a typescript prepared by an admirer is not known -- but it is signed large and bold by Caldwell in black ink at the conclusion. Unusual and intriguing.
