The author, born in Poland, served in the merchant navies of France and Britain before turning to full-time writing in England. In this novelette, his Captain MacWhirr character obstinately refuses to attempt to avoid the full force of a ferocious typhoon. With 6 plates bearing Maurice Greiffenhagen's black & white illustrations. --- In dark green cloth-covered boards with shadowy image of the steamer SS Nan-Shan amidst stormy seas; orange titling and accents.
