About This Item
Gainsville, FL: University Press of Florida, 1996. First edition. Hardcover. Near fine. SIGNED. 68 pp. Oblong octavo. [23 cm]. Illustrated wraps. Top right corner of front cover slightly scuffed. Fore edges ever so subtely worn. Signrf by the author in black ink on the half title page. This book features his black and white photographs from the span of 1973-1996 taken in Yosemite National Park. Uelsman is known for his creative experimentation in the darkroom, and coined the term "postvisualization". He describes this process as a playful exploration using his extensive archive of medium format negatives and a dozen enlargers, crafting images which speak to complex themes such as environmental decay. For example, many of the images of the beautiful landscape of Yosemite in this book feature architectural or anatomical details.
