Pages generally very good. Frontispiece colour plate and seven additional colored plates throughout; greatly detailed and subdued paintings by Maxwell Armfield. One plate with residue, chip fo "Thumbelisa." Additionally, delightful b&w vignettes, also apparently by Armfield, greet at beginning of each tale. Bind solid; hinges intact. Near very good, charming rarity. Contents: "The Ugly Duckling; The Rose Elf; The Wild Swans; The Steadfast Tin Soldier; The Girl Who Trod on a Loaf; The Storks; The Little Match Girl; The Bell; Ole Lukoie, The Dustman; Thumbelina; Little Tuk; and, The Bottle Neck."
