Illustrated monograph on little-known 18th century French miniaturist painter Francis Lainé, painter at the court of Louis XVI and a member of the Royal Academy in London and the French Academy of St-Luc. Includes a separate section of notes and documents about Lainé compiled by M.F. Rossel. Large publisher's prospectus laid in for a limited edition facsimile of Lainé's sketchbook.
