Gilt-tooled spine title in second compartment; gilt-tooled decoration on raised bands. Marbled paper ove boards; marbled endpapers. Publisher's list of Bibliotheque Contemporaine facing title page. The author, Émile Souvestre (1806-1854), was a prolific novelist in France between 1836 and his death in 1854. In Very Good- Condition: edges are rubbed; faint number written at tail of spine; leather along spine slightly discolored; light foxing throughout; otherwise, clean and tight.
