About This Item

New York: Longmans, Green & Company. Very Good. 1896. First American Edition. Hardcover. The rare first USA edition, information and copies of this edition is very hard to find, it follows on the release by Hutchinson in UK during the same year. The title page illustration is the same as the Hutchinson edition, but with Longmans details as the publisher. No copyright page, (1-4) , (1-228) , 18 page publisher catalogue, (1). Predominently known for her children stories, her adult fiction mostly ghost stories. A VG copy, some fading and wear to spine, but boards in VG+ or better condition, internally clean and in NF or better condition. This Is her 2nd and best known collection of supernatural tales, the most notable story being "The Shadow in the Moonlight". Tymn 3-173, Bleiler - 1187, Barron 2-68. Provenance - From the Gary Munson Collection; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
