Very Good/Good. 8vo, [8.75x6in]; 160 pp., nine images on four plates, full-page text map and diagram, lists of expedition members; Dark blue cloth on covers with gilt lettering on spine; Lime green dust jacket with white and black lettering on front and spine, image of Lashly on front; Minimal shelf wear, dark stain on top text edge at spine with some spotting along top; Dust jacket shelf wear at edges and corners with several closed tears and chipping, dark stain on top front at joint running down spine, spine faded. [Rosove 198.A1, Spence 686]. William Lashly (1867-1940) was a Royal Navy sailor assigned to the two Scott expeditions. These are William Lashly's annotated sledging diaries from Scott's Discovery 1901-4 and Terra Nova 1910-13 expeditions. He provides an undistorted picture of what life was like during the expeditions and the joys and sorrows. He was part of the party to find Scott's tent with the bodies of Scott, Wilson and Bowers.
