Royal octavo (tall 8vo). xx, 522 pages of text including an index, followed by [ii] pages of publisher's advertisement. Hardcover binding of brown cloth; rebound for a library but without any mark on the exterior. Minor foxing to title page, and just a few pages with tiny tears or chips to edges. Contains 10 color lithograph plates. Ex-library, and stamped as such on page edges, with bookplates on endpapers, but only the title page and following page marked within the text with a small stamp of five numerals in the bottom margin..
