Jacques Gaffarel was a 17th-century French astrologer best-known for his book 'Unheard of Curiosities of Talismanical Sculpture of Persians'. This book proved to be the best work of its kind – a book filled with descriptions of horoscopes and astrological studies, magic spells and talismans. It was popular throughout England and, in fact, it is known that Descartes fancied this book.
This rare first edition is a very valuable and desirable work.
