About This Item
Text is clean and unmarked in a square and tight binding. Only defect is age toning of text. Gilt lettering on the spine is bright and clear. "The use of Scripture in public worship was inherited by the Christian Church from the Jewish in its Temple and Synagogue services. In the Synagogue, in the time of the Lord, there seems to have been no use of the Psalms, but only the reading of lessons from the Law and from the Prophets. In the Temple worship...the reading of lessons had no place; but Psalms were chanted, one, appointed for each day of the week, in connection with the offering of the morning sacrifice, and in fuller measure at special festivals." p.4.
