About This Item
New York: Macmillan Company, 1917. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good -/No Jacket (assume none issued). Red cloth with gilt spine lettering, clean with only hints of rubbing to extremities but spine, plus very thin line of rubbing towards front edge of spine from below title, strip across top front slightly faded. xxxviii + 620 + (5, notices of other books by author); the major fault is excision of front end-paper, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked except for edge-tanning throughout and light ingrained dustiness to top edge, bottom edges of author notices also have two brown marginal stains of little consequence. Very scarce. This is the original American edition, a UK edition was issued more or less simultaneously using original American sheets but with different t.p. 14 cm x 20 cm
