Syracuse, NY, 1861. Minor soiling and toning due to age as well as a few minor separations along the fold.. A transfer of patent certificate for the Common Sense [Butter] Churn. The churn was invented by C. D. Van Allen and patented by him in July 1861 with an O.B. Cowles purchasing shares in it at that time. This certificate is represents when Van Allen transfer his share and ownership of his invention to Jefe M. Sharp of Roxbury, NJ, in November 1861. At the bottom of the certificate it states that the It was received by the US Patent Office on November 30, 1861 and entered into their "Transfer of Patent" files. Reverse is blank. Measures 13 1/2" x 8 1/2
