About This Item

The Wanapum Indians. Soft cover. New. This is a post card signed by the last living member of the Wanapum Indians. The Wanapums numbering some 2,500 in 1805 lived at their ancestral home at Priest Rapids on the banks of the Columbia River, 24 miles downstream from Vantage. When we visited a Columbia River Dam in the 1980's this Indian, the last surviving member of his tribe, was selling postcards and he struggled to print his name on the card for us. He printed his Indian name Pah-Wan-Toot on the card. Available for immediate shipment for a collector who will value this vanished piece of Western Americana history.
