A well regarded historian in her own right who received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee in 1933, Eron Opha Moore Rowland (1861-1951) was the wife of noted Mississippi historian and author Dunbar Rowland (1864-1937) who served as the director of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History from its founding in 1902 till his death in 1937. Eron Rowland is best known as the first biographer of Varina Howell and for her 1926 book "Andrew Jackson's Campaign Against the British, or the Mississippi Territory in the War of 1812" also published by Macmillan.
