This is a Heroes of History selection from the publishers. Chronicles in typical Western European style and content the Portuguese navigator and explorer who completed the first successful voyage from Europe to India, opening up the spice trade for Portugal.
Boards are soiled, corners bumped. Spine gilting and titles are somewhat faded. Bookplate on FEP was issued from the Bridgeton Parish Church Sabbath School to a student for winning First Prize for "Attendance, Repetition and General Good Behavior, 1899-1900." FFEP is browned from laying against the bookplate. endpapers, frontispiece, title page and Table of Contents page have an oil-like stain on the fore edge that does not cover any text. Hinge is tight and pages are clean. There are 4 pages of advertisements for adventure, travel and discovery books for young boys in the back of the book.
All proceeds benefit The Friends of the San Anselmo Library. No expedited shipping outside of the United States.
