About This Item
London: Trubner & Co., 1866. 1st ed. . Hardcover. Good-VG/No Jacket. 14 Cms x 21.5 Cms. iv+357+(2, notices of two other works by author); This is a library binding by Leeds Public Libraries with their attractive heraldic plate to front pastedown, withdrawn stamp to facing end-paper and loan sheet + small date stamp to rear end-paper, also their colourless round impressed stamp from 1st leaf diminishing through to p.10 and from p.346 through to final leaf - this quite inoffensive. The main text-block is clean, tight and unmarked. Red library bound cloth covers clean and unworn with gilt spine lettering inc. lib. number. Despite being an ex-library copy in library binding this remains a very acceptable reference copy of this quite scarce work, the entries in which are often quite extended and thoroughly researched (over 2 pp. on 'bayonet', and many over a full page, e.g. 'namby-pamby' and 'pantaloon'). Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
