There is no date given, but estimated to be the early 1890s. There are some photos of the ship the family took to get there called "Sierra" in the beginning. On the same page, there are 2 hand painted watercolors of fish which was the menus at the Moana Hotel in Honolulu. Photos and real photo postcards throughout depict Queen Liliuokalani and Iolani Palace, Shots of several women in lei, and early shots on Honolulu harbor Other photos depict Native Hawaiian lei vendors, hikes up several Oahu coasts, the Bishop museum, poi vendors, and Native Hawaiians navigating traditional outrigger canoes. A real photo postcard in color depicts poi vendors in Honolulu and another shows a lava formation in Puna on the Big Island. Other Big Island photos feature an early shot of Rainbow Falls in Hilo and volcanic lava flows from the slopes of Mauna Loa. Ship rides, sugar plantations and the production process, as well as shots of native surfers catching waves are also depicted. Album offers a rare glimpse of early tourism on the island as the native economy began to transition from sugar plantations to tourism and travelers. Many women in lei, parades, early train tracks at the coast and other signs of early tourism in Hawaii are present. while no covers are present and album is unbound, all photos are in very good condition.
