Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for library stamps on the front and rear endpapers and the top and bottom textblock edges. Book Condition: Very Good; light bottom board edgewear. DJ: Good +; light wear to head, tail, and tips; missing small piece at top of front panel; slight suntanning to spine. Yellow cloth boards and spine with blue lettering on the spine. 192 pp 8vo. The story of Vicky is based in 1885 on the experiences of the author when she was a child in Simla, a town in the Himalayan foothills when many British went to escape the heat of Southern India. There Vicky meets other children but also Chela who looked after the monkey temple and the monkeys. A good look at the pampered lives of the British in India at the turn of the century. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
