Albumen print photograph, carte de visite format, 100 x 61 mm (mount), verso with imprint of 'The Adelaide Photographic Company, Neales' Buildings, King William St.'; both the print and mount are in fine condition. A superb vignette head-and-shoulders portrait of a strikingly handsome youth, no doubt a scion of one of Adelaide's elite families. The tartan fabric of his shirt (or jacket?) suggests a Scottish heritage. The Adelaide Photographic Company was at this address from 1864 to 1867, and was managed by F. S. Crawford between 1864 and 1866.
